This graduate course bridges theory and practice in curriculum development and implementation concepts. It will focus on the skills needed for auditing, developing, writing, and implementing curriculum within the framework of one's curriculum platform.
This course will increase the professional competencies of teachers and aspiring school leaders as they develop new courses of study and improve existing courses of study for diversified learners from pre-school through high school.
Candidates will design and implement integrated units of study that are aligned to Common Core State Standards. Candidates will model effective teaching-learning-assessment strategies within the context of their units of study. Current theories in curriculum design and learning will be analyzed, evaluated, and applied within the context of integrated, interdisciplinary units of study. Candidates will consider their roles in curriculum design and implementation through the lens of a change facilitator and leader so that they develop effective strategies that jumpstart the change process and support it through various stages.
